We
have been working on this site for a number of months. The
purpose is to help the citizens of Montana and visitors to our state
choose businesses in the state which are completely smokefree.
We believe the evidence of the harm from second hand smoke is overwhelming. The recent Surgeon General's report on second hand smoke notes that there is no safe level of exposure to second hand smoke. Our approach is a little different than our state law. We have chosen only to highlight business as "smoke free" when they are completely smoke free. If the business allows smoking in separate room where infiltration occurs, then they aren't smoke free. If they allow smoking on a patio, then they aren't smoke free. We believe only this stricter interpretation completely protects the public and hope to embrace those businesses which agree. As always with this kind of project, there are probably errors. We invite the public to give us feed back on any errors found --> either businesses that should be listed as smoke free, but aren't, or businesses that are listed but shouldn't be. We have tried fo verify every business, but this is always a difficult task. Thank you for visiting this site. And please help us with feed back. |
